Scoot launching flights to Melaka from October, prices start at S$69

Say goodbye to long car rides to Melaka. On Aug 6, budget airline Scoot announced it will be launching flights to the Malaysian state starting from Oct 23. Flights to Melaka will be served five times weekly with all-in economy class fares starting at S$69.
Flight tickets are now available for sale, and a search conducted by CNA Lifestyle on Wednesday (Aug 7) revealed that a one-way economy ticket from Singapore to Melaka for the flight’s maiden trip on Oct 23 currently costs around S$77.
The flight time will take approximately 55 minutes.
Scoot has also announced that it will be launching flights to Indonesia’s Kertajati International Airport from Sep 28. The airport serves the Greater Bandung and Cirebon areas which means nature lovers can have easier access to Indonesia’s lush forests and natural waterfalls.
Flights to Kertajati will be served two times a week with all-in economy class fares starting at S$92.
According to Scoot, these flight services were possible as it had acquired two additional Embraer E190-E2 aircraft – bringing its current total to four. It previously announced that it plans to add nine E190-E2 planes to its fleet.
These E190-E2s will also be deployed on existing flights including those to Indonesia’s Makassar, Balikpapan and Pekanbaru, as well as Davao City in the Philippines and Vientiane in Laos.
Leslie Thng, Scoot’s chief executive officer, said: “We are excited to announce the addition of another two new destinations to our growing network – Kertajati in Indonesia and Melaka in Malaysia. Since the launch of our E190-E2 aircraft in May, we continue to see strong demand for our flights, which have connected many of our customers to/from our various destinations across Southeast Asia.”
