Vintage Proportional Divider Mechanical Drawing Drafting Tool

Description

This auction is for a seven-inch set of proportional dividers and matching hard case. Marked ‘Alvin / Germany' and 'Circles'. This instrument measures just under seven inches and comes in its original velvet-lined case.
The set is in excellent condition, with virtually no wear or stray marks on the instrument or case.
Made of German silver (I think, but this is a nonbinding estimate only) with fixed steel points. The case is in very average condition, with the locking wire still present but some damage where some fool did not know how to open the case and started prying. This is a historical and well-made piece of high-end drafting equipment from the estate of a General Electric designer of massive steam turbines, no CAD back then. Use it or show it, you will surely be pleased.
