I just had a buyer ask if this Drafting Machine came with scales.  It does not. I reached out to the company that handles Vemco Drafting Machines and these machines never come with scales. Scales are always sold separately. When you order your machine you purchase the scale that you want based on the "scale" you intend to use. Like "1/4" = 1 foot. There are literally a 100 or more combinations between the scale's profile and the printed ratios that can be chosen. And I don't know if that includes metric. The 16" on the box represents the arm dimensions of the machine itself. Scales come in either 12" or 18". Most folks purchase a 12" for the vertical arm and 18" for the horizontal.
