    Description

    This is a RARE 1920's D, EVANS & Co. Powder and Rouge compact with wrist chain.  It is marked EVANS NICKLE SILVER.  The top of the compact depicts a Dutch scene.  This is a real collectors find.  The Evans Co
    decorated their compacts in a variety of styles and this included an unusual series of repousse designs that depicted a number of different Dutch scenes with distinctive swirling cloud patterns. These cloud patterns can be seen on the top of the compact.  What prompted the creation of this series is not known but they were manufactured for at least three years from 1920 and the craftsman who made the dies for the
    Jonteel
    case also made the dies for the Dutch series.
    The Dutch scenes were never used by any other case maker and can reliably be attributed to the then D Evans & Co.  The company was located in N. Attleboro, Mass. Please email me with any questions or requests for more specific photos.  Thank you for looking.
