  • Condition: possibly one of a kind has some wear and a chip of wood gone from the base see the last photothis has all the bells and whistles of a great piece of furniture i will go into details below. see the photos one of the 2 nuts holding the bakelite knobs has been replaced and some wear on the handle,needs cleaning ,one knob has a very tiny nick

    Description

    here it is very high quality fine furniture quality wooden sewing box,
    the pull knobs appear to be bakelite
    the hinges are high end piano hinges stretching across the entire length of the covers on both sides
    appears to be peg / dowel construction with inside parts screwed in and the base held on with finishing nails and one corener snapped off along the grain lines. long gone
    one side has storage and 3 rods to store spools of thread and a hand screw to easy open to add or replace spools
    may have had 5 rods only 3 remain... easy to replace if you want
    side 2 has a built in pin cushion and a smaller one on the hatch also several holes to store tools of the trade. it also has 10 metal rods for more thread spools and 2 carved pegs to store thimbles
    the outside is also high end furniture quality the sides rise to the center with a built in handle with some wear
    both ends and down the middle appear to be dowels / pegs construction or inlaid finish decoration or both
