Old Japanese Celluloid Sewing Box w Contents

Description

Found at a Greater Boston estate, this fine Japanese sewing box was made in the late Victorian era,  circa 1880-1900.
Embossed celluloid, it shows the Oriental influence on design during the period and depicts several Japanese motifs.
Inside are sewing tools and accessories as well as several scraps of silk ribbons and a bookmark.
Brass closure and measures about 5 x 7 ¾ x 1 5/8.
Contents little used, slight warp on lid near closure otherwise excellent condition.
Rarely found and a great addition to any collection.
