Israeli Pewter Pin and Pendant Caleb & Joshua Grapes of Canaan.
This picture depicts the famous Biblical story of The 12 Spies. After God brought the Jewish people out of Egypt He led them to the borders of the Land of Israel, and 12 were sent out to scout out the country. The 12 men slipped into Israel and were amazed at what they saw: pomegranates, figs, grapes and other delicious fruit grew throughout the area and they brought back an enormous cluster of grapes on a pole. Ten of the spies brought back an negative report, showing the grapes as proof of giants living in the land, whereas and Joshua and Caleb, the other two spies, brought back a positive report. As a reward for their faith, Caleb and Joshua were allowed to enter the promised land while the others were made to wander the desert for 40 years.
This shiny pewter pin/pendant has painted enamel inserts of two of the spies carrying an enormous grape cluster on a pole. It measures 1-3/8” wide at the widest and is 1-1/4” tall. The pendant bail is stamped “Made in Israel”. Lovely pin, rich with symbology of Israel and the Jewish people!
