By 1925, the Federal Trade Commission listed Harriet Hubbard Ayer as the third largest manufacturer of cosmetics in the United States. It not only sold Theatrical Face Powder, but it also sold: Eau de Beaute, Massage Cream, Coeur de Violette Cerate, Wrinkle Eradicator, Skin Whitener, Face Powder, Service Talcum, Complexion Balm, Face Bleach, Lemon Lotion, and many moire beauty products. They were sold in drugstores and department stores. It had offices in Paris and London as well as a salon that provided various beauty services in Paris. The Harriet Hubbard Ayers Company was acquired for a handsome price in 1947 by Lever Brothers. Interesting products and an interesting history.
