FABULOUS ~ French ?~ Guilloche Enamel ~ Silver openwork~ Purse~ Compact~ VTG

Outstanding! vintage Guilloche enamel in a soft lavender, with open silver fretwork and a small snail make this vintage leather compact/ purse, one of my favorites. It measures 12" to the top of the leather strap handle, and the body of the purse measures 6 1/4" long and 2 1/2 wide. I have found no markings at all on the piece and do not know much about it. It came from an estate in Westport Ct. and is 'as found". The purse opens with a small snap on the bottom to reveal a mirror on one side, (pretty worn), and it looks like a place for lipstick, and a pouch with a pocket that closes as well on the other. The purse is made of very soft leather, in nice shape and still soft and pliable. The handle has a slide that can be tightened once on the wrist.   I just love the expression of the snail, looking into what looks like a sunrise. I do not think you will find another like this.
