DISNEY'S EVAN K SHAW / AMERICAN POTTERY BAMBI’S SHY FALINE - VERY GOOD CONDITION
For That Special Disney BAMBI Collector!
Evan K. Shaw American Pottery Walt Disney’s “SHY” Small 4 1/2” Tall FALINE From The 1942 Feature Film Bambi in VERY GOOD CONDITION! With No Chips, Cracks, Breaks or Repairs and Little Visible Crazing!
You are bidding on a Small Evan K. Shaw / American Pottery “Shy” Faline in very good condition with little visible crazing! This Faline is one of the smaller versions of the Shaw / American Pottery Bambi statues that stands only 4 1/2” tall. Faline does have slight “Paint Rubs” along the top of her right ear that are hardly noticeable. Faline no longer has an oval label. Since fewer of these smaller characters were produced, they are at times more difficult to find in this good of shape.
Bambi was originally drawn by Disney Legend Frank Thomas. This “Shy” pose of Faline is found in the movie during the Spring of the young Bambi's second year. Love is very much in the air. Bambi is rubbing his antlers against the tree to remove the velvet & gesturing about him at the courting birds. Friend Owl addresses Bambi, Thumper and Flower on the perils of “twitterpation”, something that can happen to any unwitting young creature. Bambi then bumps into a young doe, Faline. Bambi is immediately “Surprised” or “Love Struck” with the shy and quite beautiful Faline.
Since each ceramic piece was individually hand painted, each one displays unique features and expressions. This hand painted Faline with her head slightly turned away from the smitten Bambi, obviously expresses a feeling of being timid or shy.
This rare & small “Shy” Faline is in Very Good Condition for being about 75 YEARS OLD!
American Pottery was founded by Evan K. Shaw who was a former Vernon Kilns employee. During the period of 1943 through 1955, Evan K. Shaw created the largest ceramics outfit in the Los Angeles area under many different Company names and Disney Licenses including Metlox & American Pottery. Evan K. Shaw's American Pottery signed its first contract with Disney on February 4, 1943.
Shaw/American Pottery figures are known for their details, expressions and quality. Shaw/American Pottery had their own Mold Makers. The Disney Studios would provide model sheets to be followed for each design. Once Shaw/American Pottery came up with a new concept, it would have to be approved by the Disney Studio artists and the Disney licensing division before any production could begin.
We are willing to work on the price for this item, therefore we have listed it as a BUY-IT-NOW item, and you also have the opportunity to MAKE-AN-OFFER!
We found this Shaw/American Pottery Faline in a garage storage container as we were going through the items that we have collected over the past 45 years! If you collect DISNEYANA, or if you love early Disney Ceramics, then this EVAN K. SHAW / AMERICAN POTTERY piece should be high on your list.
