Baby Ferdinand is now 83 YEARS OLD! With No Chips, Cracks, Breaks Or Visible Crazing. It is in EXCELLENT CONDITION!
Brayton's Laguna Pottery of Laguna Beach, California was licensed to produce ceramic figurines of select Walt Disney characters for only a 17 month period of time! On May 16, 1938 a standard one year contract was drawn up by the Kay Kamen, Ltd. Company for the Brayton Laguna Pottery Company to become the first California ceramic company to begin processing authorized Disney ceramics in their standard colors and glazes.
Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs had its Wold Premiere on December 21, 1937. Brayton produced a full Snow White Set of all the Seven Dwarfs and the Forest Animals and a large version of Snow White.
Ferdinand The Bull was Walt Disney’s 1938 Academy Award winning animated short. The Brayton Laguna Pottery Ferdinand The Bull line of Disney Licensed figures were produced in both “Young” & “Old” poses of the tame, flower-sniffing bull. The complete set was produced in two sizes a Regular size & what they they called a Miniature size.
You are bidding on Brayton Laguna's “Baby Ferdinand The Bull” ceramic figure made in 1938. The Disney Studio model department produced most (if not all) of the Disney molds for Brayton. The pottery company then charged Disney a casting and labor fee. Disney's contract expired with Brayton's Laguna Pottery in December of 1939. Kay Kamen, Ltd. marketed the remaining stock of Brayton Laguna's Disney Ceramics through his catalog in the early 1940's.
Baby Ferdinand measures 5” long and 5 1/4" tall. Ferdinand is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, breaks or rough spots and no visible crazing or paint loss. It will be tough to find another “BABY FERDINAND” in this good of condition!
