    Description

Disney Original 1939 KNICKERBOCKER Toy Co. composition JIMINY CRICKET 10 inches.
This lovable Pinnochio character belonged to a family member as a child.  Jiminy Cricket has been a staple under our family's Christmas tree for years, along with other toys and stuffed animals from the 1930s that I will be listing during the holidays.  The rest of the year Jiminy Cricket is packed away, such that any wear is from the original child/owner. The arms are jointed and moveable, as shown by photos. The clothing is original and in one piece. There is evidence of age as shown in photos, but the figure and clothing are free of any odor and have always been in a smoke free home. I can see no way to remove the single piece of clothing to enable viewing the area in the upper chest and arms. The button appears to be glued rather than a true button. There are visible cracks in the body of the composition doll as shown in photos. The side crack under the figure's right arm is barely visible when the coat's tail is in place. That crack goes as far as the armpit, but does not impact the arm's movement.  I have included two photos of that crack under the right arm with the coat's tail pushed up, followed by a side view with the coat in a down on the standing figure.  The crack in the left shoe appears to be deep. I think it should be assumed that the shoe has been reconnected with glue, but there is no evident residue of glue to clarify that assumption. There is a crack at the top of the neck.  Finally, note the hairline crack on middle abdomen and a crack between legs.  The head is somewhat wobbly but can still be placed in a stationary position.  The figure likely needs to be restrung for a tighter fit. The two cords securing the head are visible from the back of the neck when it is tipped forward and appear to be strong and secure, but seem to have lost some of their elasticity.
I have no expertise about dolls or toys to speak to the details with professional terminology, but have done my best regarding specifics to point out flaws with both photos and words.
I will pack this family heirloom with great care.
