Art Deco era French silver and 18K yellow gold compact mirror. The lid with 18K yellow gold overlay, beautifully hand engraved with a wonderful winter scene. Depicting a snowy landscape, a barn or cottage and a church in the distance surrounded by mountains and pine trees. In the forefront is a pair of skis and poles in the snow. Embellished by two ruby accents set into the windows of the cottage. The front of the compact with gold overlay clasp, channel-set with six fabulous square cut rubies. Flush hinge. Opening to reveal a beveled mirror and powder well. The interior hallmarked with the French head of the wild boar and a maker’s mark. Measures 3" square x 3/8" height. Weighs 141.9 grams. In overall good vintage condition with general wear commensurate with use and age.
