Antique Micro Mosaic Brooch Flower Basket Floral Pin Grand Tour Italy
This mid to late 1800's micro mosaic brooch of a gorgeous flower basket is painstakingly hand made to create a tiny still life effect, shadings of three colors can be seen on the basket, navy blue and white checkerboard tiles create the handle of the basket and edges,  huge blooming flowers shown next to tiny forget me nots and green foliage.
Original hinge in working order. The brooch setting is brass, and has a gilt wash that appears worn on the front. It has twisted rope circles with a twisted rope edge nearest the brooch.. Measures 2 3/16" inches across.
Condition: Please see photos for best description! Overall condition is good to very good . The tesserae (tiles) all appear to be intact and present and the surface is smooth.
Metal has wear due to age and use.
The green jade glass no cracks or damage, a few air bubbles in the jade glass. One of the twisted rope circles on the setting has become a bit flattened.
The setting will need cleaning/polishing, but I will leave that up to the new owner.
