Antique Engraved Brass Presentation Jewelry Box w/Hand Painted Porcelain Plaque

This is such a gorgeous box.  It's difficult to part with, but we're downsizing, and some hard choices need to be made.
This is a jewelry presentation box, obviously for a very special set of jewelry.  The original receipt from when it was purchased in an antique shop in California nearly 50 years ago now, lists it as an 18th century bronze jewelry box of French manufacture, and that it came out of the Chateau Du Treseques, in France.
While this could absolutely be of French manufacture, it could also just as easily be German.  Or it could be of French manufacture,
with
a German porcelain plaque, as was also common.  So please view the photos and judge for yourself.  We also believe it to be closer to mid 19th century, than 18th, and I'm not sure if it's actually bronze, or brass.  It has lovely silver-colored details in the fretwork.  It's just amazing.
The box is in excellent antique condition. There may or may not have been a more solid bottom piece to this.  Some of the bottom layer has pulled away from the frame slightly.  The inside velvet and tray has the usual colour variations from age and oxidation.  The silk ribbon pulls on each side are long gone but are easy to replace.
Few very faint, what look like feathery scratches to the front of the man's pants.  Never noticed this until the photos, it's very light.
There is no key, so I don't know if the lock is working.  It measures 9.25" x 6.75" x 6".
