Antique Brass 1920s Pompeian Bloom Rouge Compact Box - Rare
The is a rare little compact in great condition with no dings and only a tiny dent on the bottom edge. The box was made by E Loesser Mills in the 1920's. The distinctive, oriental-looking, font was matched with their signature color, purple. (Purple highlights would be used on most Pompeian case decorations and the powder puffs would be backed in purple linings). In their earliest rouge boxes, the words Pompeian Bloom were enclosed in a heart but this would be discontinued within a few years. The purple is long gone off this box, but it is one of the earliest versions with the heart. One final distinguishing feature of early Pompeian cases was their use of a Greek Key border design. The case is 1 1/2" in diameter. There is an old sticker on the bottom with most of the purple lettering unreadable. See Pics.
