This is a fabulous rare French black celluloid compact with engraved and handpainted art deco flapper woman on the lid, designed by Antonin (not signed).  Inside the mirror is good and there is a thin orange celluloid screen, but no puff. Compact is 3" across, and the edges have flat scallops. The fittings are brass. No marks, guaranteed purchased in Paris from old unused stock. The image on lid has been handpainted in silver and gold with a drop of pink on her lips. Celluloid front and back of compact all good, no cracks or chips. Mirror clouded a bit from age and other signs that old, although never used or damaged.
